A faction of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Osun State is holding a parallel primary to select a candidate in the April 16 governorship election in the State at WOCDIF Centre, Ring Road, Osogbo.

On Monday, a few hours to the primary, four aspirants contesting on the platform of PDP withdrew from the primary leaving Senator Ademola Adeleke and Dotun Babayemi.

The 2018 governorship candidate of the party, Senator Adeleke had pitched his tent with the acting chairman of the party in the state while other aspirants who withdrew aligned with former chairman Soji Adagunodo.

All aspirants who withdrew from the primary of the party including the nephew of Senator Ademola Adeleke – Deji Adeleke declared support for Babayemi.

Former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has described the primary of the going on at Osogbo Township Stadium as invalid.

Oyinlola dismissed the ongoing exercise at the stadium saying it is not valid.

“He is the person who will make Osun better. He is Dotun Babayemi.

“Those of us here are the ones following the law and order,”

However, at the Osogbo Township Stadium, the National Working Committee is holding another primary election.
