The Buffalo market shooting has taken a life of 10 people and left three wounded in a racially motivated mass shooting. The incident took place on Saturday, May 14, inside the Buffalo Supermarket after a masked man with gun entered the supermarket and opened fire at the visitors. Now, the suspect has been identified as Payton Gendron, 18, who left the supermarket before authorities rushed to the scene. He drove from hours away in Conklin, New York to the Tops Market on Jefferson Avenue. Well, the shooting took place in a predominantly Black neighborhood.

According to the official sources, 11 victims were black and two of them were white. During the press conference, a special agent in charge of the FBI’s Buffalo field office, Stephen Belongia said,” We are investigating this incident as both a hate crime and a case of racially-motivated violent extremism”. Since the news of the incident went viral, an atmosphere of fear has been taking place in the area and people are getting worried to come out of their houses as these incidents have been taking place in the country. John Garcia of Erie County Sheriff said,” This was pure evil. It was a straight-up racially motived hate crime”.

Who Was Aaron Salter Jr?

Well, the first victim of the incident has become a topic on the Internet who lost his life after being shot by the suspect. He is identified as Aaron Salter Jr, who was a former Buffalo police officer who is being hailed for trying to stop the gunman to enter the supermarket. When Gendron was trying to enter the supermarket, Aaron Salter Jr. who was the longtime security guard and a former Buffalo cop came in front to stop him. However, Salter’s bullet could not penetrate the armor of the attackers and he was shot by Gendron.

According to the authorities, Salter was the father of three and acted like he was a cop pulling out his gun and trying to take Gendron down at that time. But, his bullet couldn’t enter the body of the gunman’s armor. The cop’s elder son, Aaron Salter III said,” I am pretty sure he saved some lives today. He’s hero”. It is saddened to hear that Salter left his three children behind.
