According to the lawsuit on 7 December 2021, 10-year-old Nylah Anderson was ” extremely suffocated” while trying the viral challenge, “encouraging the user to restrain himself with a belt, purse-string or similar until he died.”The girl’s mother, Tawana Anderson, filed the lawsuit Thursday in eastern Pennsylvania. She sued Tik Tok on several counts including wrongful death, strict product liability, and negligence.
Tik Tok is not publicly interviewed for the lawsuit. She claimed her daughter had seen footage on her For You page of other Tik Tok users promoting the ” Blackout Challenge,” a chiefly focused content feed created by the app’s algorithms.
